“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His court with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the Lord is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations.” Psalm 100: 4-5

The value of your soul

The Dolmabahce Palace is spectacularly situated on the Bosphorus. A visit leaves you awestruck by the beauty of the architecture, the ornate rooms with their gigantic chandeliers and the variety of artistic decorations. You almost feel overwhelmed by the extravagance of it all. If you would dare to compare it with your own home you could easily feel that your own life is insignificant.

The Dolmabahce Palace with all its treasures may be of far greater value than all the material possessions I have and yet I know that my soul is of far greater value than all the palaces in the world put together!

Jesus said:  What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul? For what can a man give in return for his soul.  One human soul is of greater value than all the gold and silver and luxury cars and homes and yachts and property and money put together.

The treasures in the Dolmabahce Palace are carefully guarded. How do we guard our souls which are of so much greater value? We guard our souls by being with Christ who conquered sin and death through the cross and rose from the dead. He alone can be trusted with something as precious as our souls. And even when we lose our lives in this world our souls are saved by the One who conquered this world through His death and resurrection.
